Do you determine how your day goes or do you let your outer circumstances like work, people and events trigger feelings of discouragement, frustration, emptiness, anger, impatience, etc set the tone of your day?
Other than making life happen, most people let life happen to them. When you let your life to be governed by circumstances and other people, you are not using the power God has made available to you! By relying on the Holy Spirit, you can create the kind of day and life you want to live.
One way of the ways you can influence the outcome of your day is by using imagination or visualization. Before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning, spend a few minutes thinking about the things you would like to experience during the day.
How would you like your workday to go? Which people would you like to meet or spend your time with? What opportunities are you looking for to advance your career, financial situation, relationships, etc? What emotions would you like or do you intend to feel during the day?
You can even take it further by using a journal or notebook to jot these details down! It has been discovered that when we write down stuff, it helps our minds remember the stuff easily. Its like you are writing it on your mind or heart.
Once you have all the details written down, spend a few minutes vividly imagining each scenario in your mind, exactly as you would like it to happen. Pretend you’re watching a movie in your mind, seeing it all play out exactly as you’d like it to be. Most importantly, since emotions are so powerful, allow yourself to emotionally feel as if your desires were actually happening now.
Immerse yourself in emotions of excitement, joy, peace, happiness, love, confidence and gratitude as you enjoy one great experience after another. Use this same process for every experience you’d like to have that day.
By the time you’re finished with this visualization process, you should be feeling fantastic; buzzing with good spirits and high expectations! Now you are ready to start your day, but be alert so you don’t let any events or experiences that you don’t want try to put you down. Keep speaking the promises of God concerning you and confessing that great things are going to happen to you throughout the day, and continue to let yourself feel great about all of the blessings and abundance in your life.
To the best of your ability and by the grace of God, avoid getting entangled in feelings of worry, anxiety, fear, discouragement, frustration, and anger as much as possible because these feelings will interfere with your soul (mind, emotions and will) and may start controlling you, causing you to lose control of how your day turns out.
As often as you can remember, call to mind images of the things you visualized earlier and allow good feelings to flow over you again. confess and believe that wonderful things are happening, even if you don’t see them quite yet. Remember that we walk by faith and not by sight.
Imagination and visualization is not easy in the beginning. Just like any other skill we learn in life, we must practice it on a daily basis and be persistent.
By using the process I have outlined out for you on a daily basis, it will soon become a habit and you will eventually start to notice that good things are starting to happen. You will find yourself being in the “right place at the right time” and generally enjoying greater opportunities and abundance.
To help Abraham see what looked impossible to man, God told him to look at the stars in the sky and sand on the on the sea shore. He was getting him to visualize and imagine what was not seen with the physical eye. What you see on the inside will determine what you will end up seeing on the outside.
Until next time,
Stay blessed & keep the faith!
